HDTS SKATING TREADMILL

What is a hockey treadmill?

A hockey treadmill, also known as a skating treadmill, synthetic ice treadmill or skatemill, is a specialized training device designed for hockey players to improve their skating skills and overall performance. Unlike traditional treadmills, this one is equipped with a synthetic surface that mimics the friction and feel of ice. Here’s how it works and its key features.

Built for Performance: Key Features of Our Hockey Treadmill

Skatemills have become an essential tool for hockey players at all levels, from youth to professional, as they provide a controlled and focused environment for improving skating skills, endurance, and overall performance on the ice.

Synthetic Surface

The surface is made of a synthetic material (synthetic ice) that provides a similar gliding sensation to ice. It allows players to wear their regular hockey skates while training.

Endless Loop

The treadmill has a continuous moving belt or surface that creates a skating environment where the player can skate in place without actually moving forward. This allows players to always remain in front of the coach.

Fast skills improvement

Our HST equipped with modern software based on artificial intelligence. Various diagnostic systems help coaches find a player’s weaknesses and work quickly and efficiently to eliminate them, constantly monitoring progress.

Adjustable Speed

Skatemills typically have adjustable speed settings, allowing players to skate at different paces, from slow and controlled movements for skill development to high-speed sprints for conditioning.

Resistance Options

With simulating the effort required for different skating maneuvers and helping players build leg strength.

Monitoring and Feedback

Our HST (due to configuration) equipped with sensors and cameras that track a player's movements and provide real-time feedback on their stride, balance, and technique. This data helps players and coaches identify areas for improvement.

Training Programs

It comes with Instructor app. – video training drills and exercises to target specific aspects of skating, such as acceleration, agility, balance, etc.

Safety Features

To ensure safety during training, our HST includes drop-down handles and emergency stop mechanisms, allowing players to stop the device instantly if needed.

Year-Round Training

Since hockey treadmills can be used indoors, they enable players to train regardless of weather conditions or ice availability, making them especially useful during the offseason.

Ready to build your hockey development solution?

It is suitable for youth players, advanced players, and professionals. It is also highly relevant for coaches, academies, clubs, and hockey training centers that want a more structured and efficient way to develop skating and individual skills.

Yes. A hockey skating treadmill can help improve acceleration, stride power, skating mechanics, balance, and movement efficiency. These are key factors that influence how fast a player can move on the ice.

Yes, indirectly and directly. Better skating gives players more time and space in game situations. In the HDTS environment, players can also work on shooting, passing, puck control, and decision-making as part of a broader development system.

No. The HST is part of a complete hockey training system. It can be used together with shooting, passing, diagnostics, testing, and other training zones in a hockey development facility.

Yes, when used properly and under supervision. The system includes safety features such as harnesses, emergency stop functions, and controlled speed settings, which help make training safe for young players as well as older athletes.

The HDTS Professional Edition reaches speeds up to 35 km/h, while the Economy Line reaches up to 28 km/h. The Professional Edition also includes a hydraulic incline system with an operating surface angle from -6° to +2°, which gives coaches more options for resistance and skating-specific workload.

Yes. It is an indoor training solution, so players can train regardless of weather conditions or ice availability. This makes it especially valuable during the offseason or in facilities with limited ice access.

The HDTS HST combines the treadmill itself with diagnostics, AI-based analysis, software, methodology, and integration into a wider hockey training environment. It is designed not just as a machine, but as a system for measurable player development and long-term facility use.

Progress can be measured through tests, cameras, sensors, and training data. This allows coaches and facility operators to track improvement over time, compare performance, and build more individual development plans based on real results rather than assumptions.

The final cost always depends on several factors such as configuration, available space, installation method, intended use, number of machines, and the overall arrangement of the training area. That is why HDTS usually prepares an individual solution based on the client’s specific project.

Yes. HDTS provides solutions for hockey centers, academies, clubs, and custom-built facilities. If you are planning your own center or want to expand an existing space, we can discuss the best setup based on your goals and available area.
